The Men’s basketball team will try to continue were they left off at the end of last semester. Where exactly did they leave off? Well, the final game of last semester was a win against our rivals to the north the Cleveland State Cougars 76-68.

From there it was a small holiday break in which the Men’s team could get away from the sport for awhile and then refocus as the semester begins.

For now, the Tigers look primed to go on a run that will lead them into the Regional TJCCAA tournament. Beginning this semester with a narrow, yet convincing win against the Roane State Raiders, as Alex Dean dunked the ball with power at the buzzer. The basket was waived off but the Tigers held on against a powerful opponent 78-76.

What does the rest of the schedule have for the Tigers? We will find out as they look to capture a top 25 national ranking. The Tigers missed being ranked by one vote, getting beat out by the Blue Storm of Southwestern Illinois College in Belleview, IL. The Tigers had 15 votes to enter into the top 25 as the Blue Storm 16 votes for the 25th and final place in the national poll.

This may or may not be something Head Coach Jay Price and the Tigers are looking to accomplish. One thing for certain they look to continue beating competition in Region 7 and also avenge some early season losses to conference foes.

The Tigers are looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to the Columbia State Cougars on the 22nd of January, 76-88, in Columbia, TN.

With that being only the third loss of the season it unfortunately has the Tigers out of contention for a National ranking. This week the Tigers received only six votes towards the national poll. It’s hard to imagine that an 11-3 record is bad. On the contrary, this record is very good.  The Men’s team looked to perfection at the beginning of the season but now even if the Tigers are out of the national rankings they are to be feared in their region.
